If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my Laying herself at the sympathy of producers confident enough to turn out hits in their sleep, Madonna has put her status on the line for Hard Candy, but it’s a planned risk, and even though she could have done it better, it’s still a great record.
In reality, the album is not the hip hop tribute many had feared, but an urban addition of 2005’s Confessions On A Dancefloor. The disco still rules supreme (just listen to the funk-overload of Dance 2Nite) and the dancefloor remains Madonna’s sexual playground. Yet, with Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, Nate ‘Danja’ Hills and Pharrell Williams at the helm, the RnB edge is further added. Williams’ breathy punctuation and tinny percussion spill out from the album’s opener Candy Shop and Timbaland’s indistinct bass beats make for amazingly disorganized melodies, particularly on the superb climax, 12 Voices – Madonna’s most haunting sound ever since Frozen.

In Baroque, an album of improvisations on Baroque themes, Gabriela Montero mingles musicality and technical skillfulness with soul. Even though not possible to cubbyhole, the overriding style is classical, but there are trace of pop and jazz along the way. If you let pass her previous album (Bach and Beyond) and alarm bells are ringing at this account, I can only beg you to not write this off as a ‘crossover’ album by yet one more pretty face with an efficient marketing group. Montero was a respected concert pianist for several years prior to the great Martha Argerich convinced her to stop concealing her improvisatory gifts through fright of not being taken seriously. Thankfully, Montero accepted the elder pianist’s suggestion, or else the world would have been a gloomy place.

Ashlee Simpson, “Bittersweet World” - There’s no reason to believe that Ashlee Simpson is living in a “Bittersweet World.” Jess’ fun-loving little sis is newly engaged, with a giant sparkler from Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz, and has been blissfully showing it off to the cameras.
The songs on Simpson’s third studio album sound more sweet than bitter. Though the effervescent pop-punkster is growing up, with a maybe baby on the way, the disc retains the girly-tomboy vibe and sleek production of her previous albums.

Already released in the States last year, Brandi Carlile, following notable support slots with the likes of Tori Amos and Ray LaMontagne, at last gets an airing over here. The Washington State resident’s second album should discover several friends this side of the pond, and admirers of mid-tempo country rock of the likes of Lucinda Williams will feel absolutely at home.
Most of ‘The Story’ is filled with loping acoustic folk country. The hidden track, Hiding My Heart, proves that she’s not scared to bare her soul like a real Nashville citizen. Cannonball is particularly efficient in using the rolling rhythms and barstool viewpoint of trade nation. Working for more than two years with the same group (Tim and Phil Hanseroth) has also let her songs to sound as natural as breathing. Whereas admiration has to be given to T Bone Burnett, the alt country stars producer of preference, these songs come to life just as much for their being captured almost live within 11 days.

It doesn’t take Einstein to calculate the secret of Mariah Carey’s achievement. A voice with such aptitude that it could likely kill added to a reputation that many would kill for equals a worldwide request that has produced 11 studio albums and 150 million odd international sales and counting.
Somewhere at the beginning of the Millennium, this equation failed to tote up. The Glitter and Charmbracelet era of Carey’s career symbolizes a sticky period to state the least. However, on the back foot, Mariah formed one of her career highlights in the form of The Emancipation Of Mimi, and, sensibly, she follows its lead for this fan-pleasing record.
Following her rewarding hip-hop team-ups with Snoop Dogg, Nelly and Twista on Emancipation, Mariah returns this time with Damien Marley, T-Pain and Young Jeezy under tow and all of the cameos are magnificent; T-Pain’s performance on Migrate in particular. Whether it’s the reggae trip on Cruise Control, the crunk-pop of Side Effects or the Cristal-soaked hip hop of Migrate, Carey handles every style that her producers throw at her with incredible vocal adroitness.

After Aamir Khan’s amazing directorial debut in TAARE ZAMEEN PAR, its Ajay Devgan tryst with film direction that appears well with romance-cum-drama flick U ME AUR HUM. Vishal Bharadwaj, the magical sensation behind OMKARA success, proves to be uncharacteristic choice for the album over present set of contemporaries in delivering trendy and lively sounds, rhythms and music for this romantic roller coaster ride.

Vishal Bhardwaj takes a huge thrust into whirlpools of Latino stylized musical plunge as music runs loud, vocalist croons out emotions while chorals takes centre-stage in chartbusting delight “Jee Lee”. Adnan Sami modulates to perfection in this “cruise-carnival” feast with Shreya Ghoshal adding mesmerizing tones with her graceful performance. Munna Dhiman’s lyrics may not be “out-of-world” but definitely wonderfully penned with the delighted mood of the track. The number is definitely be chartbusting success and possible to be next intense punch on the floors with it ever rising promotion.
